What Hasbro is doing is a verbatim "I am altering the deal, pray I don’t alter it any further" money grab. Their CEO's contention that D&D is "undermonetized" is not just greedy; it's their own fault. The third-party ecosystem exists because Hasbro itself has left gaps in the system and released mediocre supplements. If WotC was performing, we'd be buying from them.

What they are doing is anticompetitive, and is likely illegal as such. It's also immoral AF.

For 45 years I've been playing/dungeon mastering #DnD. Yes I'm old. In that context I have never felt as betrayed as I do now. Hasbro has burned trust to the ground; anything they say now is considered a lie.

My current D&D campaign is my last. I'll finish it under 5e. Anything new will NOT be anything Hasbro controls.
