I don't know if I want to fully explain QT's backstory, but one thing I will say is this:

Part of the reason why QT is such an attentive and compassionate god is because when he was mortal, there was a traumatic period where he experienced complete powerlessness. A time when he had absolutely no freedom and no hope.

He never wants anyone to have to feel that. He wants everyone to feel safe, empowered and free.

I don't always want to watch a Sopranos or Game of Thrones. Sometimes I WANT to watch a variety of really well-done hour-long stories that can each stand on their own merits but which all just happen to have the same characters in them.

The backstory adds a lot of depth to his character, imo, but there's also something to be said about leaving backstories up to the viewer's imagination
