You see us as you want to see us -- what we ask is that you allow us a few moments to be surly and terse and quiet before slipping back in our roles as fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, and lovers. Does that answer your question? Sincerely, The IT Club.

I have come to conclusion that Reddit will not survive or thrive under its current leadershit. Every day I want less and less to do with it and cannot continue to build communities and give away my knowledge and labor for an increasingly immoral and corrupted fiefdom.

It's becoming abundantly clear that not very many people have read "Snow Crash" or "The Diamond Age", or even "Ready Player One". I'm not totally sold on this product, but it does reflect the idea I've had for some time that we're entering a new paradigm shift in how humans interact with technology. Mix in advances in quantum computing and nanotechnology, and our children will look back at this time (and this product) as a major step toward that new paradigm.

On Monday, we'll be introduced to macOS eWorld or macOS Cyberdog or macOS Dogcow. Moof!
(though technically, that last one isn't actually trademarked anymore).

There’s a reason why companies like Microsoft are spending billions to acquire the intellectual property of companies like Activision. Apple has also quietly been introducing some technologies into their product line that will complement an MR headset: Spatial Audio, U1 chipsets, LIDAR, Dolby ATMOS, and more.

There is a paradigm shift coming in how humans interact with technology. Some of this shift will be drive by AI and machine learning, but most of it will be around the integration of mixed reality in various parts of our lives.
As I’ve sad in my first paragraph, I fully expect this first generation of the Apple MR headset to be a bit clunky, expensive, and…most importantly, better than what’s currently on the market. It will be lighter (a huge issue for anyone who uses VR headsets all the time) and should have some of that Apple polish. However, it won’t be for everyone. The myopic tech press will probably criticize it harshly because their field of vision is too narrow.

It wasn’t until the App Ecosystem exploded that we started to see sales explode.
Apple has spent BILLIONS of dollars (I believe Scoble put the number at something like $40 billion or 6-7 years) into R&D around a mixed-reality headset. Companies don’t spend that kind of money if there isn’t a product coming.
Thread: I think that whatever Apple releases/announces on Monday, everyone needs to remember that technology evolution takes money and time. Historically (for any product, company, etc.) the first generation of something isn’t very refined. It takes until the 2nd or 3rd (or even later) generation to see hardware commoditization and acceptance. It’s those first generations of hardware and the early adopters that will allow Apple to build the API for developers to write Apps/Games/Whatever against
