Do you know that there is a market for IPv4 addresses where prices are increasing? We really don't need a market for a scarce resource when we can use an alternative abundant resource like IPv6 addresses. Some big companies have bought large amounts of IPv4 addresses (see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPv4_address_exhaustion#Markets_in_IP_addresses). I don't think this market will benefit people, special in regions where the resource gets more scarce.

Today I attended to a talk by @MilkaLichtblau about fairness in rankings. To me, the most interesting part was not the proposed method, but the multiple definitions of bias and fairness. It is not just the problem of fixing statistical bias, but fixing unfairness that goes beyond the misuse of proxies. What makes this political is that we must decide when we are fair, that is, the desired balance between accuracy and fairness. I recommend reading her thesis (http://dx.doi.org/10.18452/24310) and papers.
