Duolingo keep replacing an increasing number of real UI elements with calls to upgrade. This is how they treat a paid subscriber of 3 years.

They are merely following the standard enshittification playbook. They'll keep increasing the ad load to the point that I am annoyed but not to the point that I quit. #duolingo

On a recent visit to the US, I was trying to add luggage to a domestic United flight (while I was already in the US). Both the app and their website kept rejecting my Dutch credit card - saying they only accept cards with billing addresses in the US, Puerto Rico & Guam.

Now this is the same card that I had used while in Amsterdam to add luggage to another US domestic leg. On a whim I decided to use @mullvadnet and set my country to Netherlands. Viola, they now accepted my credit card.

PSA: When you are in the US, United Airlines only accept credit cards with billing address in U.S. (incl. Puerto Rico and Guam).
