Society does nowhere near enough to help those in need. Particularly the massive growth in cases after Covid - but things were already bad.

And that is fertile ground for the scum of the earth who are willing to exploit those in crisis.

If Nexperia finds link between compound semis and natsec "extremely far-fetched", it's worth noting US defence research agency DARPA led some work in the area.

Then, with the US and EU directing billions toward #semiconductor manufacturing, the UK should look to develop IP of its own in novel and emerging technologies.

But, as the piece notes, that means having a plan/clue. Little sign of either yet.

I'm a #journalist best known as the Washington Correspondent for E&T Magazine, published by the UK's Institution of #Engineering & #Technology, and the EIC of a specialist site on #semiconductor design, Tech Design Forum... among other things.
