Using oil-based modeling clay to create a 3-D sculpture & then immediately drawing your own model gives you a much deeper understanding of the real world. Having white clay helps you see the shadows better too. The lighting in this is pretty good, but there is a lot of reflection off the paper it’s sitting on, which is not what you would see on a real face unless you had a saucer- shaped white collar. So to draw I would set it up higher. Use a mirror for reference but don’t worry about likeness.

Here are some tips to make your effort more rewarding for the visually impaired.
DESCRIBE:
1. Image shape- square, vertical, horizontal
2. the mood & textures
3. the big shapes within & where they are
4. The objects shown & details
5. Colors - muted, brilliant, black & white, names
be specific, such as, “the edges of the dark gray clouds have bright golden sunlight”

When I was in the hospital, I asked the nurses about their view of art. One delightful woman who was helping me walk for the first time, up and down the hallway, said seeing #artwork at a museum had opened her eyes to how much color there is in the world. I said that was the job of an #artist, to help people see the world in a new way. She was full of #wonder at this idea.

Sometimes I forget the #viewpoint of non-artists can be very different.

I’m surprised at the change in color from drawing in #procreate and jpg or png on my phone. I ended up trying to color correct it. I don’t know what anyone is seeing, but I don’t see quite what I made: more green & lighter background. Darker and more intense colors in hat. #stetson #sketch #art #DrawEveryDay #DigitalArt
