Finally ditched NextDNS for PiHole and my own blocklists. Gotta say, its nice not getting yelled at about quotas and just having Google DNS as upstream.

One, nixpkgPy, is a simple package manager that improves my NixOS usage. I also wrote Configbuilder, a way to quickly set up a modular configuration tool in Go.

If you're going to catch a fish, isn't it better to just keep it?

I realize that Alpine is mainly aimed at containers, but I really like it's package manager. NixOS is my first love, but I'm gonna tinker with Alpine for a week or two.
And, I even got Nvidia GPU drivers working by compiling the OSS Nvidia kernel modules. Pretty sweet.

Downloading random DEB packages in the first place isn't generally a good security practice anyhow, and thats why most distributions encourage the use of Flatpak.
If you ask me, this is overly technical people getting mad at things they think average users care about..

This article boils down to "users can't blindly download a DEB package and have it install via the Software Center anymore."
Sorry, but users are conditioned to use app stores now, and most likely they'll be installing it via a Snap.
I know that most of the Linux community hates Snap, but this article is the dumbest commentary I've yet to see about 24.04.
