Sad day for my old NAS. I used to run a file server and Plex server on it. It’s been out of service for a few years now but I finally got a few hard drives to put into it and did a factory reset. That was a mistake. Everything kind of works, but the firmware is so out of date the updater doesn’t work anymore because of some bug in the web interface making it incompatible with every browser I tried. It has a warning dialogue saying you can’t roll back the update, do you want to continue, and the OK button doesn’t work. The cancel button does though. Anyway, because I factory reset it, I don’t have the Plex server on it anymore and the App Store doesn’t connect to anything anymore. What can I say, it worked in 2013!

[Video Description] Now released in stunning 4K, Life in Australia: Geelong is part of the Life in Australia series produced by the Commonwealth Film Unit for the Department of Immigration in 1966. Directed by Antonio Colacino, this short film was designed to showcase an idealised version of life in the Victorian regional city of Geelong — complete with stable jobs, family homes, bustling shops, and thriving sporting and cultural life.

But Geelong is very much a film of its time.

Made in the final years of the White Australia policy, this government-funded series was created to appeal to (mostly British) migrants, presenting a carefully curated image of Australia as a land of opportunity and prosperity. What’s missing tells us just as much as what’s included — there are no First Nations people, no visible cultural diversity, and women are portrayed in traditional domestic and clerical roles.

Viewed today, these films offer a fascinating glimpse into the mid-20th century Australian self-image: aspirational, orderly, and framed like a TV sitcom of the era. While they don’t reflect the full complexity or diversity of Australian society — especially during a decade marked by protest, reform, and transformation — they remain compelling time capsules of a nation in the midst of change.

Today in #Satisfactory I set up a Pure Copper Ingot refinery and added Wire, Cable, and Copper Sheets to my dimensional depot.

The tower has reached the high altitude of the Red Bamboo Plains and offers some great views of Snake Tree Forest and the Green Fields.

The first Bauxite mine has been built and power has been run to it and the tower. I’m going to set up Aluminum production in the bottom of my abyss pit next to the Space Elevator. It took over 570 Encased Concrete Beams to build one conveyor lift from the top to the bottom!

I’ll have to source some water for the Aluminum smelters. There is a creek running into a waterfall in the abyss pit and I know I can fit one water extractor at the top of the waterfall so I plan to use that. It won’t provide enough for the planned factory, but it’ll let me get a trickle of aluminium going so I can unlock the pressure pump things. Having the water extractor at the top of the waterfall will give free water pressure for the system too, so I won’t need pumps for any of it.

Still no screenshots of the tower yet. Don’t worry, you’re not missing much. It’s mostly shrouded in abyss fog.
