Over the years with #Ubiquiti EdgeMax (Pro) routers/switches in the #homelab, I did manual management, then self-hosted UNMS, then hosted UISP. But now apparently that's no longer free and I need self-hosted UISP. Kinda tired of it. Wanna manage declaratively without running random UI admin portals.

Next upgrade I may go DIY, maybe #NixOS Anyone else? Hardware?

Much of the ecosystem seems to be moving things around, setting outdated peer dependencies, abandoning packages after a year, and shifting everything to some new plugin. Rinse and repeat

I wish more companies would hire folks to craft Grafana dashboards (or equivalent) as a full-time design problem. I feel like many designers and UX engineers who work on web/mobile layouts have applicable skills.

It's a data presentation and discoverability problem like others. Every shared dashboard is years out of date or broken. There's no passion or quality. Engineering doesn't reward this area. So you get one-offs. I'm guilty too. We need people to craft it full-time like it matters

Maybe I can write markdown or get a daily reminder. No social features and I'd like to own the data. Paid or self-hosted is fine.

My custom solution lacks mobile app or pictures and no time to build it. Might look at Obsidian or Next cloud, but neither seem focused on recording memories?
