Two hour visit to my paternal ancestral home, Aldeburgh, Suffolk, UK. Graves, lifeboat disaster memorials, museum artefacts - given to an ancestor by Edward Vll. An exciting time, and the hysteria of sitting in the church where they were baptised, married, and buried still hasn't quite dissipated a week later!

Received my login details for the (virtual) Family History Show next Saturday 10 Feb. Some great talks, and "stands" in the exhibition hall, so I'm hoping to learn plenty. Open for booking a spot to chat with an expert already so I may ask about my brick wall ancestor. Talks remain online for 72 hours so if you're not in UK, or if you can't log in on the day, you can catch up.

Anyone use weare.xyz for tree, archive, and blog? I've been looking at it, and signed up for the free trial, but the site itself seems a bit buggy. Login page just flashes and doesn't load, other users blogs don't always load. It may be a problem at my end, although everything else is loading ok. Any users who can comment? I'm on #Ubuntu (Linux), Firefox. Thanks.

Busy time ahead. I have signed up for a free talk by National Archives (UK) on Using Civilian Internee Records. My father often mentioned an uncle of German birth who was interned so I hope to find out more. Then I start my Pharos course on Ag Labs - both my family lines worked on the land until the 1860s. That seems to coincide with the advent of the steam plough, so that may be why. #genealogy #internees #Agriculture

Just joined the #SocietyofGenealogists and booked for the "Mother Nature’s Impact on Family Migration" talk on 4 January. All my families moved from rural areas to industrial cities in the 1860s. My OPS has made me think about the shock from being an ag lab on the #Staffordshire moorlands, to being a miner in Stoke-on-Trent.

What software do you use for a to-do list for your OPS / ONS ? I've played with a few over the years, and my genealogy software (gramps) has one built-in, but only accessible on my laptop.

I've used Evernote, but not got past the basics, Zim desktop wiki, Airtable, and a few others. I use Dropbox for backup and cloud storage.

Ideally I'd want to share between my devices (Linux and Android) so cloud storage, or Dropbox storage. So many apps, so little time!

What are your favourites?

#OnePlaceWednesday and most of my activities aren't research! I still have to set up the spare room with corkboard and whiteboard, test the spare monitor with my laptop, and wrestle with Wordpress' new (to me) block editor. I much prefer the classic editor which I'm using on my family history site, but I can see that it will eventually disappear, so I may as well bite the bullet now. Off to Youtube.
