Tried updating my home server to Fedora 42. Did not go well.

The update itself was fine. But then I could not access any of the apps running in docker containers even though the containers all seem to be running ok.

Decided to revert back to Fedora 41, then it wouldn’t boot.

Ended up reinstalling the is from scratch. It is good having everything backed up….

Almost impossible to understand announcement on the train. It was in English and all the station names were pronounced as though by an American with no knowledge of how Japanese is pronounced. I suppose it is to make it easier for tourists but it sounds really strange.

Last weekend we dove up to Shinshu and visited Matsumoto castle. The area has some really good soba noodles. There is also a wasabi farm, so we got some real wasabi root, which is so much better than the wasabi paste in tubes.
