Very valid points being made here. Why are we not investigating Russian interference in British politics as it is clear from actions by the USA it’s a real issue.

1.9.2024 04:44And so goodbye to August, and I do appreciate the new ‘wrap up’ feature in StoryGraph.#storygraph #BookstodonI am somewhat annoyed. There have been umpteen iterations of a ‘task’ involving posting the front covers of books with no comments on them. To date I have muted each of these because I just find them irritating. The challenge keeps reappearing with either a new hashtag, or worse no hashtag at all. It’s a very minor irritant, but it’s an irritant. Please use an agreed hash tag so I can mute these. #Bookstodon #bookstodon

Sigh.

On aspect of this is DNA testing. I was born here, my family I traced back to Scotland and England into the 1500s in places. So when a bunch of extreme right wing thugs say they want their Engerland back I do wonder what their claim is for 'their' country and their place in it. For reference here is - geographically - where my DNA has come from. (1/2)

Does anyone have any examples of photographs of what the living conditions are in these no-longer hotels? I ask because some people have difficulty reading more than simple words in Engerlaaand… Every picture tells a story.
Please boost for reach.

By the end I was seething: I always knew that our aristocracy were descended from robber barons but this blows the lid off. Globally we now have the same with billionaires. My library has some, but I wondered if there are any other apps that ‘lend’ audiobooks. I am in the UK so US stuff doesn’t work for me. I don’t want to purchase audiobooks either, just listen once. Any recommendations please? Boosts appreciated. #Bookstodon

There were many low points but a memorable one for me was Kwarteng saying ‘I had to renegotiate my mortgage too’….. pass me the tissues!

The first book I have ever read on the Caesars that allowed me to make sense of it all. Holland relates things clearly to today and therefore parallels help undrstadning. A long and sustained read needed, but very informative.

A series that should have been ended way back when, Rankin is milking this as much as he can and its a shame. I cared nothing for any of the characters. The only spark of interest, which will fast date, is the Covid refenrences. Another book that wants to have advertorials to add to its earning potential…..

I like Pearson, he captures the voice of his character and whilst I saw some of the resolution well in advance, not all of it. He works a bit of magic with a seemingly mundane plot and I always end up feeling a little more enlightened at the end.

The location (I live there) is actually the main character, the plot is more than a little far fetched, and the main character in what she does is hardly credible. Not sure how many readers would like it if they could not actually know the locations and have walked the streets regularly.
