2.7.2023 23:12Found a place where you can still stream Star Trek: ProdigyI wish there was still a place I could publicly shame Spirit Airlines for their incredibly abysmal performance in the face of equipment-related (i.e. their fault) delays today. They truly need and deserve a good public shaming.

Resetting then leads to having to set up any automations using that device from scratch.
The only devices I haven't had to reset have a hub that connects to the router via wired ethernet.
There should be a way to change the password over Bluetooth if I've already paired an app to the device.

"This is an incredibly lame and sucky decision for a number of different reasons. GM is essentially dropping CarPlay because it wants to find new ways to charge customers a recurring subscription and new ways to collect data on driving habits. It’s a bad decision that I think the company will ultimately regret."

"'We do believe there are subscription revenue opportunities for us,' Edward Kummer, GM’s chief digital officer, added. The company is targeting $20 billion to $25 billion in annual revenue from subscriptions by 2030."

It's not because Android Automotive doesn't support CarPlay (Volvo and Polestar use Android Automotive, and CarPlay works as an app). So why then?
"This change, the report explains, will help GM 'capture more data on how consumers drive and charge EVs.'"
Because if you use Apple Maps on your phone, GM doesn't get a copy of the data. Presumably GM will then sell the data they collect.

For anyone interested in why @apple@twitter.com shows 0 tweets, apparently it has always been that way? The Verge reported that they exclusively use paid tweets that aren't added to their timeline, back in 2016: https://www.theverge.com/2016/9/3/12781498/apple-twitter-account-paid-tweets and this was still the case in 2020: https://medium.com/macoclock/apple-doesnt-tweet-848a25de004d

I really don't understand why anyone would take that deal.

It's amazing how quickly Twitter has gone from what seemed (from my outside perspective) like one of the best tech companies to work for to possibly the absolute worst one.

I'm Eric, I've been writing code (#ruby and #golang recently) for a couple decades now, and I live in Pennsylvania, USA. I'm interested in #infosec, #security, #cybersecurity, #privacy, and particularly in following people whose perspective and experience is different from mine. I'm a fan of #scifi, #startrek, #starwars, and #cyberpunk. I love to #travel but I'm concerned about #climatechange and the world our children will inherit. Happy to be here!
