I’m not sure that the time loop makes adequate sense. Does it somehow explain why these four soldiers showed up at the start of the game, already holding their crystals? I expect the answer is “don’t worry about it”, and that part of the drive behind Chrono Trigger was to develop this idea. Wild that this game planted so many seeds.
