So somebody was digitizing and passing around 1-bit popculture in the late 80s, eventually they got GIF'd and onto a CD <3

640x200x1 is a DOS resolution that was hardly used.. but it also smells a lot like Atari ST or Amiga.

So what can we find beyond gifs for clues. Here are a few pieces tagged by the same user 'JMB' dated 1987 as 'TNY' files. Along side an Atari ST slideshow viewer.

This one caught my eye because its clearly the wrong aspect ratio. But its not the wrong RESOLUTION. 640x200 on a CRT gets stretched tall like above.

GIF is not often the original format either, and sometimes can be a lossy conversion down to 256 colors (though 16 or 2 in this case are fine)

So is it a drawing? Looks more like a digitization to me.

You can't just show me a 640x200 1bit image without expecting me to loose a whole morning researching its provenance.
