Indoctrinating my son into the world of Subarus. He watched me build up a beat up '00 Impreza into a rocket. A lot of the bigger work was done at shops tho. We decided we wanted to learn how to do all aspects of repair/mods, so I found a perfect empty canvas to wrench on with him during high school

We now have the coolest driveway in the neighborhood. First set of upgrades included WRX seats and steering wheel. The gold STI BBS wheels will be going onto the OBS, as I recently got a set of TE37s

For me it wasn't about dunking on rich/asshole people, its about the abuse creatives endure while just trying to practice and perfect their craft. I related closely with a lot of the staff - might be the first time I've really "felt seen" like that (yes, upper middle class white cis guy whining, apologies)

Also, the asshole fanboy was just... 🤌

Put together a new workstation over the Christmas break. Trying out tiered storage caching using cheap (relatively...) an Optane 905p and PrimoCache.

I have little patience for slow computers. Probably a placebo, but I swear this machine is blazing fast when using it normally.

My quest started by trying to reduce local compile times of Unreal, which I've learned is not helped (much) by going the extra 5% on stupid fast IO -- but the overall user experience benefits have been pretty tremendous.

First up, I think I need IT -- but not just anyone. Anyone know where I might find someone that can just as comfortably build a custom world-class ultra performance PC, assemble an Atmos conf room AV, or design and implement a global Perforce infrastructure? How about track down issues in an old Perl script? Whip up an internal system for polling logs and alerting devs?
