To clarify: devenv is already making things simpler than just raw nix-shells, why should one generate something that trivial??

(I'm sorry I can't remember which library it was) So daily driving seemed hard, but now that this latest release is deemed alpha now I should probably check it out once more.

PS. quick correction, turns out the moss package manager *does* actually manage /usr and as such you still "don't get to touch it" like you could (probably not should) in a system like Debian.

Wow. This is #nixos -like rollbacks but without the occasional hassle of having to struggle with your nix config. Kinda sounds more useful if you don't care as much about declaring your /etc and /usr 😅

I can give you a very straightforward answer to that. _Forever_, and it's public: trends.google.com. And there are probably more interesting stats behind-the-scenes...

I had turned it off and the next day it just wouldn't do anything until I fully cut power and removed the CMOS battery every timr. Turns out, it was a pesky BIOS update. Appearantly I haven't done one of this in 1,5 years. **That fixed it**. I've never heard of this before, how can this be??
It might be the case that my OS updated my CPU microcode, rendering it incompatible with a motherboard which did not yet have those security updates as well?

I put pop!_os on it with a close 2nd of @serpentos (cmon, package manager in rust!). I tried that in a VM and liked it a lot but couldn't get it to work on real hardware.
Thanks to everyone who suggested buying a thinkpad to me in my last toot about it. The battery is not what it was, I'll get about 6 hours of battery life. I've heard/seen better in a thinkpad. But those can be replaced in the future. Nevertheless stellar value in this purchase in times of inflation and expensive everything.
