2018 bekamen 12 Millionen Rentner (65%) unter 1100 Euro vor Abzug der Steuern. Allerdings sei, laut Bundesregierung, das Armutsrisiko von Rentnern nicht wesentlich höher, als das der Gesamtbevölkerung und die Zahlen ließen nicht auf Bedürftigkeit schließen.
