Can't be that cold down there if he's in a shorty.
I set this up in a small glass container, filled it with water, and let it sit but after all my prep, the photo ended up looking like there wasn't any water there at all.
The tiny bubbles on the plant in particular and trapped under the transparent baseplate give just a hint.
I ended up shooting this again later with a different effect but had fun with that dropper tool to create air bubbles from the diver.

I'm not a huge fan of LEGO costumes but this tree outfit is fantastic! Shot this one back in April 2018 in Brooklyn.
I gave him a wonderfully thick canopy using Chris McVeigh's bonsai tree instructions and added a bit here and there. This made the minifig pretty hard to balance.
I just set him up on a moss tray, literally a collection of moss bits I scraped from the bricks on my patio and put into an IKEA tray. I got that inspo from a fellow LEGO photographer, Brett Wilson.

Dancing with myself
I took this photo back in 2018 and it's still one of the most technically challenging photos I've ever taken. This is the stroboscopic flash technique which can capture the movement of an object across the frame in a single exposure. It involved a dolly, timelapse pan head, and a flash set on "multi" mode.
If you know Joe McNally, you'll instantly recognize where I got the inspo.
I promised myself I'd try this technique again but I never did. Gotta fix that.
