Vote No On Anti-DEI Shareholder Proposals: https://genxjamerican.micro.blog/2025/03/29/vote-no-on-antidei-shareholder.html
29.3.2025 15:34Vote No On Anti-DEI Shareholder Proposals: https://genxjamerican.micro.blog/2025/03/29/vote-no-on-antidei-shareholder.htmlI fully expect the conservative majority to rule in whatever fashion will preserve the GOP’s legislative advantage and further undermine the Voting Rights Act. That said, when it comes to congressional districts, the real problem is that there are too few of them. The cap on the number of House members of 435 is arbitrary and insufficient for a country with a population of 330 million people. The U.K. has 1/5th our population and a House of Commons with 650 members—a far more representative body. Adding 125 more House members could go a long way toward reducing arguments about district shape, compactness, and all the other ways that gerrymandering is used to diminish the power of black voters.

Given how disproportionately black men in this country are deprived of due process rights (by vigilantes, by police, by an underfunded public defense system, etc) it is especially nasty work for a black man with a media platform to use his position to advocate for others to lose the due process right we have only a tenuous grip upon ourselves. https://mstdn.social/@GottaLaff/114218344011783133

It’s incredibly corrupt, but will define a new normal under Trump 2.0.

But given how the Trump administration has chosen to treat legal immigrants, permanent residents, its own citizens, and legal visitors, the safety of competing teams is a real concern.
In the same way that the U.S. led 65 other countries in boycotting the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow to protest the invasion of Afghanistan by the Soviet Union, our country could be on the receiving end of a similar boycott for the World Cup—and/or for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

But they will learn, just as Chrisette Michelle did after she performed at one of Trump’s inaugural balls in 2017, that they aren’t the only ones who decide how their actions will be interpreted.
Trump’s interpretation of their Kennedy Center performances will carry some weight (or a lot) in the same way that his interpretation of votes for him will.
Performing rather than negatively impact Kennedy Center employees is an understandable motivation. You see it in opposition to the ongoing boycott of Target. But as in the Target case, *harm has already been done*. In a similar way that Target’s decision to retreat from DEI harmed its minority employees, LGBT employees, & disabled employees, Trump’s takeover of the Kennedy Center has already harmed the arts.

In addition to the furloughs and layoffs reported by Chemonics, I fully expect numerous subcontractors to these mid-sized and large firms to take similar measures to stay in business. I fear many of them won’t survive.

Good story about Amazon’s botched 5-day RTO plans. Not enough parking, not enough desks, and all that commuting just to sit on Zoom meetings most of the day anyway because most of your teammates are elsewhere. You’d think a company which measures seemingly everything might be better at capacity planning for a workforce they want to have in the office, but you’d be wrong. This bad idea from the C-suite has already metastasized to other companies who are screwing it up in exactly the same ways, including JPMorganChase most recently. These changes aren’t driven by financials or some measurable bottom-line improvement. It’s pure vibes.
