Enjoyed this video of Max Richter and Derrick Gee sharing records with one another. I like doing this with friends, taking turns explaining why we enjoy a particular track.

I've become aware that my impulse to broadcast ebbs and flows, and I'd say I'm still ebbing right now.

The laptop is 10 years old, has 8GB of RAM, a 250GB SSD, and more than enough CPU for what I need. It draws 5W while idle. At current electricity prices (renewable source), this would cost $0.5 per month.
Obviously it'll draw more with real workloads, but my needs are not demanding and its not a constant load. This will replace my VPS, which is Hetzner's cheapest offering, and runs mostly underutilized.

I discovered the sane project, and created a new #toolbx container running Ubuntu to get it installed. It worked, but I wanted a native GUI.
Then I discovered that KDE has Skanpage, which immediately recognized the scanner and worked. No need for the additional toolbx container, no need to download Fujitsu's frontend - all great.

All these years, I have controlled the monitor's brightness using the monitor's built-in control.
Well, color me surprised. Today I plugged in my laptop running Fedora 40 with KDE Plasma and for the first time I can control both the monitor's and the laptop's screen brightness using the brightness key.

Today it happened again, but reinstalling the chip did not solve it. I had to remove the chip altogether.
I'll need to order a replacement, but in the meantime using the single 16GB chip should be fine.
