C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) as imaged from Dordrecht, NL last night (28 Apr 2024).

The apparent tail length is now increasing as the earth moves away from the comet's orbital plane, after crossing it on April 11.

Around the same time this image was taken, I also observed it visually with the 12" dobson and estimated it at mag. 10.2 with DC6/. The dust tail was clearly visible for about 2.5'.
We'll have to wait patiently as always but so far it's developing quite well.

A recently discovered object showing cometary features has been identified as the previously known minor planet 2006 AH2, which has therefore been redesignated P/2006 AH2 (Sheppard-Tholen)

It is a Jupiter-family comet on a ~18 year orbit that reached perihelion last summer.

New comet confirmed: C/2024 G3 (ATLAS)

It appears to be a dynamically new sunskirter with a perihelion distance (q) of only 0.0935 AU, just over 20 solar radii.
Its absolute magnitude will probably turn out to be a few magnitudes short of the Bortle survival limit (7.0+6q), meaning that it is likely to disintegrate. If this comet manages to survive, it may become bright but only at very low solar elongation.
Nevertheless an interesting object.

It is currently north of the ecliptic on a highly inclined (95°) orbit with perihelion in October of this year. Based on the current orbital elements by the MPC, it passed within 3 AU of Uranus early in 2017.

The comet has an orbital period of ~31 years and will reach perihelion in August of this year.
Given the current orbital elements, it would approach Jupiter to <0.6 AU in 2057, increasing its orbital period by several years.

A new, interesting comet was confirmed last week: C/2024 E1 (Wierzchoś)

While currently still at almost 8 AU, the comet will get as close to the sun as 0.56 AU the at perihelion in January of 2026. Unfortunately this will occur at poor elongation on the far side of the sun. The comet will probably be best observed in the weeks after perihelion from the southern hemisphere.
