After a little hiatus over the Christmas period, #progrockmonday has returned! This week's song is the delectable title track of the album A Song For All Seasons by Renaissance from 1978 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YdszVEg6e1Q).
In my view this is arguably their finest song and was the last of their epic compositions. In its own way and style, the intro is as impressive as that in Rush's 2112. The song is quite a journey, so please enjoy! #progrock #classicrock #propermusic

I'm a day late with this week's #progrockmonday, so sue me! 😂
The song I've chosen this week brings us to 2003 and is called Simple Ways by the excellent UK band Mostly Autumn from their album Passengers. Enjoy! #progrock #classicrock #propermusic

The graph below resulting from a poll taken last week by Redfield & Wilton Strategies interestingly shows the relative levels of acceptance of members of the public in the UK for windfarms in their locality compared to nuclear power stations and fracking wells.
The preference for windfarms out of the 3 options is stark #fracking #windfarms #renewable #environment #climate

I've moved forward from the 70s for my latest selection for #progrockmonday. This week's song is Don't Ever Cry, Just Remember from the 1995 album Carved in Stone by #progmetal band Shadow Gallery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ziJ564I6ZWE
Whilst having existed for a long time, Shadow Gallery have sadly remained under the radar and haven't recorded a lot of albums. Their musicianship and compositional skill is nevertheless excellent. Enjoy! #shadowgallery #progrock #classicrock #propermusic

This week's song is Don't Ever Cry,..."Dr Fernanda Carvalho [WWF] said: 'We have to remember that the climate crisis and the biodiversity crisis are the defining crises of our time. If they are not tackled we may not have a planet to live on'.
The [UK] government has committed to the goal of protecting 30% of land & sea by 2030. According to the Wildlife Trusts, little progress has been made to date, with just 3% of land and 8% of the sea effectively protected by 2022."

For the second song in my #progrockmonday series, I've decided to go for something much more obscure.
Fruupp existed for 5 years from 1971-76 but, despite relentless gigging, never got the break or budget they deserved and you can tell this in the quite ropey production quality of their 4 albums.
However, they wrote plenty of excellent songs - here's Masquerading With Dawn from their final album Modern Masquerades:

The Tory Chairman of the Culture Select Committee has branded the "Festival of Brexit' a "colossal waste of money” after the 'attraction', which cost £120m of taxpayers' money, was visited by only 2.8 million people (when 60 million visitors were hoped for). That works out at £45,000 per visitor.
The shameful, irresponsible fiasco is now being investigated by the National Audit Office as a waste of public funds.

Rather self-indulgently, I've decided to start a weekly series called #progrockmonday which will feature classic and less well-known #progrock songs.
First up, take a look at Sina's magnificent drum cover of Firth of Fifth by Genesis: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7cKkCI2fMU

The loss and damage agreement goes some way to delivering climate justice, but who's paying and who's receiving remains unclear.
As for the #ClimateCrisis itself, the commitment to 1.5C has been pushed down the list and the "low emission" energy wording continues to support fossil fuels.
What has to happen before countries wake up to the reality of the #ClimateEmergency? We just seem to be drifting pathetically towards oblivion, all because wealth continues to be deemed as more important?

The headline of the article below is "COP27: Fears of compromise on key 1.5C global temperature issue". This wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. We need to be tackling the #ClimateCrisis head on, but instead it's all about obfuscation, dilution and delay. The same as it ever was... #Climate

As someone not from the US, I just can't understand why the GOP gets so many votes and am so disappointed/dismayed that the Democrats haven't been able to convincingly beat what's now a completely rabid and dangerous GOP that's entirely in Trump's thrall.
If the US doesn't fulfil its #ClimateCrisis obligations in the coming years, other countries will inevitably also row back themselves and that might be enough to make climate change irreversible. #midterms #climatechange
