In the warmer months it's common to walk out the front door at home and straight into a hatch of small insects. Then I'm reminded about how short life can be. Some of them have adult lives that only last a day. Everything has to happen in 24 hours. Walking through their hatch I've already lived thousands of times longer than they have. To a midge I'm incredibly ancient.

I don't want to wait any longer for proportional representation. We need to do this for ourselves at a riding level. Finding common cause progressive candidates who would sit as independents. I just want my vote to count for once in my life. If we do this successfully in enough ridings they will offer us proportional representation to save their party system.

PP could bow out gracefully but failing grace he may look for a safe Conservative riding and convince the incumbent to step down and take one for the PP team to trigger a by-election. 13 of the 17 seats picked up by the Cons came from strategic voting that split the left vote in NDP incumbent ridings where people voted out of fear instead of voting out of hope. He is a loud and reckless problem but there were so many other things we wanted to work on. I'm pretty excited and nervous for next Monday. Will PP be our P.M. or Carney? Will PP lose his riding as has been suggested? Will Jagmeet have enough seats to protect workers interests? This will be one for the ages.
