Ruby 3.1 is now the default #ruby in #gentoo and Ruby 3.0 is no longer installed by default in a stable profile.

The current plan is to remove Ruby 3.0 altogether in August in time for the openssl 1.1.1 EOL date, rather than patching it somehow to work with openssl 3.

I've started using #ruby in 2006 with a #rubyonrails project. We thought it would be a good idea to try a fun project first when starting a company to see if working together was an option. That (now unrecognisable) project is still our main revenue driver.

I'm also a #gentoo #linux developer, focusing mostly but not exclusively on maintaining the ruby-related packages. That brings with it the challenge of compromising between the different approaches in both ecosystems.
