TIL (ok, weeks ago... but whatever) that iCloud documents can easily be backed up with simple rsync:

rsync -ahP --delete --exclude '*.DS_Store' ~/Documents/ /Volumes/LaCie/tsykoduk/backup_Documents

That will examine each iCloud document with out downloading them. If it needs to sync it over, iCloud will download it, and then remove the download.

If you are like me, and have a lot in your iCloud docs folder, this is a great way to back it up, for what ever reason that you want to.

Like, I’ve introduced Traveller to gaming groups many times over the years.

I felt lonely in my love of the game and setting.

Now I’ve found a niche here where I’m surrounded by Traveller peeps. And it’s freaking amazing.
