Our research and our writing is meant for the 5 people in our field and university libraries that can afford to buy our books. But our calling is to teach people to think, to radically confront their assumptions about the world they live in. And I reckon, as profs, we need to start thinking about to re-engage with the public.

Not everybody goes to Harvard. And though the student bodies at Harvard and at a community college or going to be dramatically different, I know for a fact that in many cases there will be a dramatic intersection of interests, especially in matters specifically related to diversity, equality, and inclusion.
