Some good news! I have been appointed to the #DevOpsDays conference series Global Core team!

This is an extension to of all of the work I do for the London and Amsterdam conferences, plus volunteering at many other events, and website maintenance.

Now I can use my skills to improve the core mechanisms and policies that allow many cities’ conferences to thrive and new ones to spin up!

(Oh yeah and when I say “second day in a row”, yes the billing run on Monday morning triggered many hundreds of fresh transactions with over 19 attempts per minute of £55. These were all, obviously, marked fraudulent and reversed, but the damage remains as they were coming in so fast that they were not all insta-blocked.)

The saga continues. The charges have used up my entire credit limit twice. AmEx told me I couldn’t buy £20 of cat litter last night...

The saga continues. The charges have used up my entire credit limit twice.

AmEx told me I couldn’t buy £20 of cat litter last night because my credit limit would be exceeded, which means that _again_, for the second day in a row, >£10k of fraudulent charges had flipped from pending to posted.

I’ve now spent over an hour on the phone to AmEx, in three calls, and every customer service person I speak to says “oh wow I’ve never seen this much” when they load up my account.

The emails stopped yesterday lunchtime but AmEx is showing successful transactions totalling almost £4k with a merchant of @glauca....

Obviously they’re the ones before they phoned me and I said yes the 500+ are fraud, because they came in waves?

I’m looking forward to a) getting my money back, because I do not need 350+ years of domain renewals, b) getting an acknowledgement of my support ticket, and hopefully c) reading the incident report.

This has been really, really weird and unsettling.

Clearly based on the contents of my inbox, something is broken since ~4pm. Thankfully AmEx is steadily declining the now 500+ repeated £11 payments.

I have had 200+ payment attempts and 1000+ failure emails over the past three hours and they still keep on coming.

I added a new configuration option to the `Naming/PredicateName` RuboCop rule: `UseSorbetSigs`. And it’s now released.

If set, it will take into account Sorbet sigs. So it will only complain if the method doesn’t start/end with the right things (like is_, has_, question mark) if there’s a `returns(T::Boolean)` sig.

Setting this option has reduced the number of TODOs for this rule in the `github/github` codebase by over 50%.

Last week I spent running around to three events in a row, then four days at home where I didn’t leave the house, then I came to Amsterdam for a few days. I know it sounds weird, but I’ve been working from the office for a few days, seeing friends, entirely on my own schedule, and I feel sooooo relaxed and happy! It really mends my brain to be around people. Events scratch an itch, being away scratches another itch, being at home yet another itch.
