For this specific context of using a video instead of a gif, I think it should be alright, but further tests are needed (Tested only with Brave and NVDA, and the role works well). Additionally, I'd still add an option to manually check if you want them to reproduce automatically.

I tried to make an accessible solution by adding the attributes on load with JS but apparently, it doesn't work like this. I even tried to use the play() method but nothing. Does someone know what could be wrong #accessibility

My initial reaction was to make two buttons but with this visual affordance, I'm not sure what kind of behavior would be expected. On one hand, there is no WCAG SC that talks about progressive enhancement, on the other hand, progressive enhancement really helps with making a site compatible with more user agents, which is what robustness principle talks about 🤔
