Someone reminded me of the corsets and costumes I used to make, which I no longer wear because it's just not comfortable in a wheelchair. But I did make some pretty things. The hat in this picture is completely hand sewn. I did keep the hat, most of the costumes went to a theater group.

I recycled this dress for our costume. I never wore it, because the dress was too hot. ๐ฅต Now it was keeping us all a little warmer, which is very useful in a studio without heating. ๐ฅถ

Some pre performance fun yesterday. ๐
This is the group I dance with every saturday.
This friday evening in Rotterdam there's an open stage with some cool performances. Of course I will be there! ๐
Tickets (buy one and bring a friend for free): https://misiconi.nl/agenda/spot-on-misiconi-studio/
This used to be the school I was teaching and the wheelchair that I was given to be able to work there. Now I'm not able to work as a teacher anymore and today I got a call they will come and collect this wheelchair soon.
I found this photo from 2020 and the photo is just as sad as I feel about saying goodbye to all this. ๐ข
Ok, maybe I didn't stop after finishing the backrest cover and also covered the sideguards and bottle with flowers.
I think I won't be using my wheelchair a lot, I'll just be watching it. ๐
Look how it matches the wall!

Finished!
It's not perfect, but that's ok, I'm not perfect either.
21.11.2022 09:54Finished!It's not perfect, but that's ok, I'm not perfect either. #sewing #wheelchairStep 4: I sewed the back and front together and put the cover inside out on the backrest to pin some darts.
Remind me I'll use stretchy fabric next time. All this pulling tight and pinning hurts my hands. ๐ซ
#sewing #wheelchair
Step 3: after putting in the zippers, I pinned the front and back together.
This was really hard on my hands, with a curvy backrest and fabric that doesn't stretch. So that's it for today. Hopefully I can finish it tomorrow.

I did make a mistake, but I'm not gonna say what it is, because most will probably not notice. And if you do notice it, I will just say it is supposed to be like that. ๐

Step 1: cutting the pieces and placing the zippers and velcro.
This is only the back. The zippers are for two small pockets and the velcro is to get the cover as tight as possible on the backrest.
I hope to get this part sewn today. But I hate zippers, so maybe I'll do those tomorrow.
I'll be making a camouflage backrest cover. My wheelchair will disappear in the hallway when it's finished. ๐

Hi, just showing off how strong my wheelchair and I are. ๐

Another photo by Darkashter, who also did the make-up and some photoshop. I'm not that pretty in real live. ๐
But I did design and sew this costume!
These photos were made by Darkashter when I just had my dance wheelchair. I am a terrible dancer if I didn't have this wheelchair. ๐

New wheelchair gloves are finished!
And another plus on sewing them myself, is that I can adjust them how I want. An extra layer of leather where they wear out the most. And shifting the velcro so they still be tight when the leather is a bit stretched.
Not sure if I like the color, but I have enough scraps to make grey ones again.

My wheelchair gloves (the bottom ones) are worn out, so I'm making new ones. Not sure if it's a good idea to use wrinkled leather in the same color as my skin...
I created this pattern myself and it's downloadable over here: https://salamistinkt.nl/diy-rolstoelhandschoenen/ (blog is in Dutch, I used the 2.0 version of the gloves pattern, which can also be used with a projector).

This week I got some photos from a few years ago. I remember the photographer asked me to dance closer to the water, that's probably why I look so serious. It's hard and scary to dance close to the water when you're not always holding on to the wheels while dancing. ๐
