Quantum probabilities evolve in the same way as particle ensembles undergoing ballistic diffusion. Finally, I've created a shader simulation of ballistic diffusion that runs on PC and the Quest in VRChat.

It involves the crystal lattice interacting in a distributed and quantized manner with the localized particle, so as to impart a discrete transfer of momentum to the particle/photon in a manner that precisely matches the mathematical form of Compton scattering.
Compton and Duane must have been sharing ideas at the time, intriguing they both published a few months apart.
I've updated a simulation of Duane's model of quantum interaction. Even now, Duane's work is still brushed-out from the picture by theorists and widely unknown, However, the model gains fresh relevance through Carolyne Van Vliet's research (1967 & 2010) that derives it from formal quantum theory․

Waves behaving like particle probabilities? People often wonder about particles behaving as waves, but forget that wave energy and momentum disperses just like particles undergoing ballistic diffusion.

Because of the simplicity of the model, and the fact that the reactions are calculated once for the crystal it can run in a compact standalone VR environment.
Here, the points in the active region of reciprocal space (Ewald sphere) light up as particles interact.
In a few paragraphs, Duane outlined how a lattice (not the incident wave) embodies a discrete 3d matrix of possible momentum reactions.
Projecting the particle beam's momentum vector into the space yields a region of possible reactions (coloured points).
In effect, each particle's momentum queries the set of possible reactions and the particle 'bounces' (or not) depending on the result.

1923 work by William Duane featured an application of quantum ideas that Neils Bohr put aside.
Duane's approach cut across Bohr's rigid insistence that light had to be a wave and Einstein's light quanta weren't real.
Duane's model united the quantum principles of the Bohr atom with Einstein's light quanta in a way that has a lattice interact like a coherent quantum particle, leaving Bohr's classical light out of the picture.

VRChat has finally moved my work out of Labs. My work on the interactable wave tank has been made public.
The map demonstrates how the De Broglie Model of Wave-particle duality can be replaced by a quantum scattering model proposed by American physicist William Duane in 1923. Papers by Carolyne Van Vliet in 1967 and 2010 show how Duane's model is consistent with and can be integrated with contemporary quantum theory.

Now to add controls to change frequency, barrier slits and descriptions.
Slowly making progress toward creating an interactable VR wave simulation able to run in VRC using a custom render texture.
