But I use multi-profile fedi clients and the w.s. local timeline is my pinned timeline, so don't be thinkin' to get too unruly with all your writing prompts and character analyses. Still have eyes on it.

Not only is she the most engaged she's ever been in her book club, we're having these incredible, deep thoughtful conversations at home, too, relating all the things she's thinking about to current events. And she's suddenly developed an awareness that her parents are people who do things in the world rather than just hang out waiting for her to get home from school every day - Mom being a grad student in Urban & Environmental planning is the coolest thing ever right now - I'll take it!

She asked if she could read yours, and we got some special dispensation from 6th grade to include "adult fiction", as she's a neurospicy gifted kid who's been reading at an adult level since primary school.

I had the title at the top of my short list for a 'Future Cities in Fiction" unit in my Master's program last fall. I ended up doing my review of a different book, as The Terraformers arrived later, I'm struggling a bit with reading lately, and it was soooo rich and complex. But I finally finished earlier this month.

This is related to the so far tiny number of “follow spammers” that try to pull your focus and get you to follow them back. They want to add you to their body count they’ll later sell to someone who thinks purchasing a social graph is meaningful in some way.

I prefer this to the morose and stubborn "I'm bored" refusals to engage in anything at all when she gets home from school, but the whiplash in shifted focus from a neurospicy adolescent is quite something. Particularly since she's in a "can't be more than 2 m away from mom, and must talk constantly" space lately.

Train our grocery store clerks, library technicians, neighbourhood association volunteers, teenage babysitters and office receptionists. So...

So they can answer a question knowledgeably when asked why wear a mask.

So they can hand out a contact card for a clinic.

So they can tell their neighbours at a backyard BBQ that measles or polio IS a danger and that "immune debt" is not a thing.

Just like aiming for 5% of the population learning CPR - it saves lives.

We need to have some of our public health professionals' time invested back into "preaching to the choir", so to speak, to arm...

We need to have some of our public health professionals' time invested back into "preaching to the choir", so to speak, to arm everyday citizens with knowledge and resources to talk to and direct other everyday citizens when it comes to vaccinations, disease spread, mis/disinformation, etc.

Few of us can find all the correct info ourselves AND practice the skills of communication, but more could do so with a tiny investment in training/mentoring, a box of masks, and a handful of referral cards.
