Went for a walk in local woodland. Although it was bitterly cold, it was really very scenic. Lots of frozen water in the ponds and streams. Spotted this painted stone with a lovely message carefully placed in the top of a tree stump by someone kind.

I spent this last week in North Wales on a lead #climbing course at Plas Y Brenin. Although it was late in the year the course instructor managed to get us climbing outside every day. We explored many of the interesting crags available including the sea cliffs.

It was a great course and Peter was a great guide and instructor. I’ve learned loads and am looking forwards to getting out next year exploring more of the amazing #tradclimbing places in North Wales.

Just back from sport #climbing at Horseshoe Quarry in the #peakdistrict. Weather was really good with just a couple of short rain showers yesterday. The rock in the quarry was in pretty good condition. I lead a route and did a multi pitch on a 32m route in the slab section. It has been pretty special climbing in warm sunshine in the UK.

Took a trip #climbing in Wales this weekend. Amazing weather so managed to get two days of climbing in.

First day was spent in the slate quarry and was my first time on slate. Really tense climbing on it, but enjoyed the experience and will definitely do it again. The quarry is amazing and I managed to see the Banksy.

Second day was my first experience of trad on little Tryfan. Such a lovely way to climb!

I’ve been enjoying some #sewing this weekend. I’ve had pattern pieces for a pair of trousers cut out for quite some time, and finally have taken the next step to cut out fabric. I’ve cut out all the main fabric, pocket lining and interfacing and got the back pocket flaps put together. Next up is to put the front pockets together and attach them to the trouser fronts.

Today we drove into the #garajonay national park and #hiked up to the ermita de lourdes. It’s a very tranquil place that feels like its in a mythical forest. Moss covers the ancient trees with long fronds of verdant green. It’s very humid, but also cool compared to the lower areas of La Gomera. The diversity of plant life is astounding.
Near the base of our hike, we stopped for a watercress soup that was truly delicious. It came with Gofia flour to thicken it to taste.
