I think I'm going to abandon my Mastodon. Twitter and Bsky are enough for me, and despite being on here for months I've not found the content or engagement I was looking for. Plus I keep hearing about just how divided the Fediverse is and seen first hand how unstable and costly it is. It would have been a nice idea 15-20 years ago, before the consolidation of cloud services, but today it's just not feasible I think. Corporate interests have too much of a stranglehold on running internet services and hosting now. Closing this tab in my browser, find me on Twitter or Bsky instead!

Quick homemade bulgogi sauce:- 1 tbsp sugar- 1 tbsp soy- 1 tbsp oyster sauce- 1 tbsp mirin- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil- 1 tbsp minced garlic-...

Quick homemade bulgogi sauce:
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 1 tbsp soy
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tbsp mirin
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 1/4 minced onion
- 1/4 minced bell peppers
- 5 tbsp beef broth
- 1.5 tsp corn starch in 1 tbsp cold water (slurry)

Heat 1 tbsp neutral oil over med-high heat then add onions and peppers
Once onions starting to brown, add garlic, stirring for 20 secs
Add everything else save slurry, reduce by 1/3
Stir slurry in and cook 2 more mins - Enjoy!

Had a long conversation tonight in VRC with a friend who thinks there's a common misconception in American society that intelligence is a measure of merit, and that intelligence is equivalent to success and happiness.

I can't get away from the notion that any measurement of intelligence (such as IQ) is inherently and fundamentally flawed to the point of uselessness.

Not sure which version of America he's seeing, because IME intelligent people in this society are usually belittled/ostracized.

I feel like based on some chats I've had with some younger people in the last few days, I may not be as "leftist" as I used to think. Because some of the stuff I'm hearing "leftists" say lately is genuinely on the level of bizarre and ridiculous. I won't say which things, since I don't want to inflame fragile sensitivities, but it may be more genuine to say I'm a left-leaning centrist these days. Not because I've changed, but because the goal posts have moved. A lot.

My addiction to Stable Diffusion started simply enough - someone told me you can just download it. And that you can get public models fast and easy. Then they told me about hypernets. And inpainting. Now I can't stop making everything I ever wanted and everything I couldn't even imagine.

So... Smith & Wesson tweeted out an advertisement for a brand clearly promoting the Proud Boys, but asserts that it's just the name of the company. Despite a similar font and the Proud Boys colors with the logo in the same place as the official Proud Boys uniforms, just days after the company that used to make that uniform stopped. I do believe in coincidences, but not ones that smell this fishy. ;D
