I had my #naturalization interview today! I was hoping I could get this done before the election and vote, but hopefully next time lol. So I’m becoming a US citizen soon! Also picked out a middle name for myself, soon gonna be Kaan C. Barmore-Genc Is this how trans folk picking a new name feel? lol. #Immigration #USCIS
Trying to get a tabletop RPG group together is like herding cats. I'm trying to put together a game online, I had 3 players drop out over the last 2 weeks before we could even begin. 1 of them had IRL stuff come up so of course I understand, but 2 of them just blocked and ghosted me. Honestly undermines your confidence, like "Am I doing something wrong? Is there something wrong with me?" I'm so grateful for the players who stayed and who encourage me.

This was a cool opportunity to learn #GoLang, it's using #GoFiber in the backend. The website demo UI uses #Preact with #TailwindCSS and #DaisyUI, built with #Vite, all deployed via #Kamal & #Tailscale.
I'm not sure that I'm in love with Go, but I can't say it's not productive. Preact is awesome and I am now obsessed with Preact signals.

I usually just write a docker-compose file, ssh over and deploy that manually. But I’m wondering how I might automate this with CI. #Ansible? Switch to #Kubernetes, or #Terraform? I have experience with AWS #CDK and I really liked it, but I don’t want to deploy to AWS or any other cloud.

Just figured out this mystery: #Docker bypasses #UFW because it sets up its routing rules before UFW. I don’t think this was in their docs when I was dealing with this, it is now at least.

I made microfern, a simple #javascript string templating library, inspired partly by nunjucks and partly by bash. It's extensible, and comes with some built-in functions and pretty extensive documentation. I added interactive examples in the documentation too!
I've been on a huge coding kick lately, and having tons of fun just building stuff. This was a bit of a distraction from something else I was working on, but I had a ton of fun with it.

I saw one person just now who thought that a basic transaction reading from a table would lock the entire table and block everything else from accessing the table.
Relational databases are more efficient than that! Transactions can be isolated without blocking.

Oh and I've been making an open source mobile app to track the feedings of this starter. I decided to go with React Native and Expo. I'll post about it once the app is ready.

How is #Flutter? Is #Tauri for mobile useable? This is mostly for fun so I'm up for experimenting a bit.
