I feel that my fitness is decreasing with all the home office and city life. I want to get a cross trainer that I can run on during passive meetings and such.
The choice fell on cross trainer as a device because it seems similar to hiking (with poles) or back-country skiing. And because I remember enjoying it more than other machines when I went to the studio years ago. Also better for the knees apparently.
So, are there perhaps people here that can recommend a good machine or brand? Price range 500โฌ โ 1000โฌ.
Boosts appreciated ๐

Apparently a beaver had had lunch there, too! Unfortunately, I didn't see the animal itself.

I had planned doing the first part of the trip together with my mother, which was nice and also resulted in my getting a pick-up from a different spot, so I could go a longer route.
Unfortunately, we started much later than I had wanted, and we were much slower than I had thought (mom is in her 70s now ๐). Additionally, temperatures were lower than forecast which was all not ideal.
Anyway, here are the pictures up until Piazza Rock (seen in the third picture, marked by red pin on the map). It is actually a lot bigger than the wide angle shot makes it appear.
We reached it just after noon, which was way later than planned. I have to say the hike till then was nice but not spectacular. Lots of dense forest cover with almost no views at all.

Looking out of the front window of the Mount Washington Cog Railway in New Hampshire.
Supposedly the oldest cog railway for recreational use. I was a bit disappointed that it didn't go to the top (because off-season apparently) and I would rather have hiked, but I was traveling with some older folks, and the view from the "Mittelstation" was also good.

The cute little creatures apparently live in the areas between the slopes and didn't seem much disturbed by the humans.
I still couldn't shake off the feeling that I was invading their habitat, though ๐ข
Nevertheless, it was a spectacular day, and seeing the monkeys made it even more special.

I even had cheese fondue lunch at the restaurant on the highest peak of Shiga Kogen skiing resort.
The restaurant was a bit more expensive than the other ones, and there was only one guest beside me. The fondue was pretty good though (not the best, but certainly better than I expected).
Not visible well in the picture, but part of the veggie selection was pickled lotus root! A surprising but welcome local addition.
