I presume this means it’s all just an alarm behind the scenes. Odd that Apple & Amazon would have the same constraint… maybe there’s a common hardware timer component to blame (presumably to make the alarm more reliable than pure software?) @atpfm

A while back, I heard a tip about using the Shortcuts app to create an automation that will turn your volume down anytime you open certain apps. I’ve had this set up for a while on TikTok, Instagram, etc and it’s great - no more surprise loud videos!

Just discovered the iPhone alarm gradually reduces its volume after awhile, no doubt to not be too annoying when someone abandons a phone...

Just discovered the iPhone alarm gradually reduces its volume after awhile, no doubt to not be too annoying when someone abandons a phone (in a school locker, etc). Barely audible after a few minutes.

Unrelated: my wife appears to have abandoned her phone in the kitchen.
