#Question:
I wrote a peer review for a well-known #SpringerNature journal, said I’m in favor of open peer review, and signed it with name and email.
Decision letter: Resubmit, my review was attached but the editor removed the above comment and my contact (looks as if I didn’t sign it).
Is it this okay for the editor to do w/o asking me? Does my very-ECR status have sth to do with it?
@academicchatter @phdstudents @eikofried (sorry, I know that’s your topic)

I updated the code, new layout, no live physics simulation anymore due to performance issues (sorry about that 😬).
In time, I might put together a self-updating online app 🤓.

2-3 hours ago: 641 nodes, 4995 edges.
Now: 859 nodes, 7922 edges. 🥳
The interactive version will take longer to stabilize and you might want a fast CPU.
No one has yet been able to beet @ct_bergstrom! (The trick is for a person with a large follower-count to activate a lot of their followers 🧐.)

Just for fun, I visualized the network: http://leonlotter.de/twittergraph/graph.html
When I ran the code a few minutes ago, we had already around 600 nodes and 5000 edges in the network!

Also, what is „toxic“? Are there different effects of social network architecture on, e.g., #mentalHealth of individuals having maybe less pressure to „perform“, or on the spread of #fakeNews, because they are not pushed by an algorithm?
Ideas, anyone? 🤓

Is Mastodon less „toxic“ than Twitter?
I was wondering if #Mastodon, or generally a #social #network with a similar architecture, is indeed less „toxic“ than a network like #Twitter.
This is often stated but I barely saw proof for it. I could however very well imagine it, given that a lot of Twitters „toxicity“ may arise from the #algorithm pushing certain keywords and letting things go „viral“. But is there research on the topic?

On the #birdsite, it was common practice for #scientists to post their new #preprints / #publications & explain them in "threads". On the one hand, this can be seen as a major point of a #science -oriented social network (actually my first source of new #research!). On the other hand, I have read a lot of criticism of the self-promotion and and like-hunting behavior on birdsite.
What should we do?

Hi! I am a junior researcher in #neuroscience and currently #PhD candidate at the Max Planck School of Cognition & Jülich Research Center, Germany.
I am interested in how brain structure and function develops and how deviating development may result in atypical behavior. I am a #datascience & #dataviz type with a focus on MRI.
Cool projects are in the pipeline, but there is not much published yet. I nevertheless made myself a website, because - why not? http://leonlotter.de
