I would like to highlight another inspiring talk that I attended today at @fosdem : "Unearthing the impact of survivorship bias on women in FOSS to build more inclusive communities" by Imma Valls and Julia Iamenza. This talk explores how survivorship bias—meaning the tendency to focus on successful individuals while ignoring systemic barriers— impacts women in open source and how we can build more inclusive and welcoming open source communities.

Starting to review open source code is very educational, increases your competence over time and will make you feel more connected to the community of the project you are involved with.

Did you know that many #opensource repositories suffer from a large number of open pull requests that need a reviewer? Open source maintainers are usually very busy with many of them being volunteers. This easily leads to a great number of PRs that lack attention. So this @hacktoberfest I've been focussing on reviewing pull request and I encourage you to do the same! 😊

I'm very excited to be part of the #DreiLänderHack, a hackathon that brings together European railway companies for working on shared solutions that improve the European railway system and experience. Involved are the Austrian ÖBB, the Swiss SBB, the French SNCF, and the German DB. I'm also very happy to see that @openrail is involved, an initiative for #opensource software in the railway sector. 🤩

I just finished working through the book "The Linux Command Line" (https://linuxcommand.org/tlcl.php) by @william_shotts and I can highly recommend it! Especially for me as a career changer, I find this book to be super useful for my day to day tasks.

With 459 pages this book is of quite decent size but the content is dense, easy to understand and of high quality. So if you would like to learn about navigating the Linux command line or improving your skills, check it out. 😊
