Just updated our preprint assessing the 2022 study that claimed medical masks to be noninferior to N95s for COVID. In addition to issues identified previously, a closer examination of the data revealed unexpected patterns unlikely to occur in nature.
Big thanks to co-authors @sameo416 @juliamwrightdal @jmcrookston @GosiaGasperoPhD @dfisman and Corinna Nielson.

Looks like someone in Public Health / IPC in Ontario has secretly modified SARS-1 guidance to limit precautions to droplet / contact other than for AGMP. Not clear when this was done: https://mobile.twitter.com/KashPrime/status/1614435744742785031

9.1.2023 05:17(lawsuit for unsafe working conditions resulting in a death from COVID-19)@Billius27@mstdn.ca RE the Loeb paper stats, and specifically what they knew when they departed from the registered study (Canada + Israel) and switched to unregistered countries: do you think it's possible to back-calculate imputed values for censored participants in that data set from what they published?
They were right on the verge of showing a statistically significant difference then without that and I wonder if that would have put them over the line, which would be a big deal.
Thanks

Hello from Calgary to the IAQ groups!
Gratuitous CR box photo (4x Arctic P14 PWM PST + 2x Ikea Starkvind filters, inspired by the work @robwiss is doing).
May 2023 be the year we get past the barriers and clean the air.

The fact that we're this deep in and it's still egos >> expertise is a perfect distillation of the failures that got us here.

There are many reasons why it *could* be wrong, but I need reasons it *must be* wrong (and so is safe to ignore).
Hypothesis: as SARS-CoV-2 inhibits p53, and can persist for at least months, widespread and repeated infections will cause a major increase in cancer incidence, with a delay of several years.
Relevant concepts:
●HCV & liver cancer - https://www.nature.com/articles/onc2010594

Hi everyone. Still figuring out how mastodon works, etiquette etc.
I'm a consciously interdisciplinary researcher, tissue engineering and supporting technologies (some of you may have used my AggreWell platform?), lately thinking a lot about COVID.
Academic now, previous experience at Merck, PhD Medical Biophysics at U of T in a cancer hospital, PDF in stem cell bioengineering.
Also very interested in paddle / sail-powered boats and how they work (canoes, Venetian rowing, sails, etc).
