As a long-time Sway window-manager user on #Linux, I gave #Cosmic a try today on a new laptop.

I was surprised that it it seems to support all the tiling keyboard shortcuts I wanted use and nearly all my other other configuration.

One feature missing for me was remapping some mouse keys via libinput.

I'll stick with Sway for now because I have it dialed in with no major complaints, but will keep an eye on Cosmic's future releases. Impressed.

Siri has added some shortcuts for requesting timers and setting alarms. So if you want to steep a green tea, you can say simply "3 minutes". If you want set an alarm, just "6 AM". Or if you want to re-steep your tea a little longer the second time, you can say only "3:30" and wonder what your tea gets oversteeped until you wake up at 3:30 the next morning and find out.

I find I mostly process Github notifications at https://github.com/notifications but it feels like I should be getting a notification somewhere else, too.

I self-host at home, and last night the worst happened: I woke up to notification my personal website had been down for 8 hours.

Our assigned IP had changed and my automation to automatically update the DNS in response to such events apparently failed.

And all this is fine.

Stores aren't open 24 hours a day, libraries aren't open 24 hours a day and my personal website doesn't need to be up 24 hours a day either.

Happy to have cheap hosting in exchange.
