I use a Yubikey for authentication. I keep it on my key ring. My wife has a one which also works as a duplicate of mine. In case the house burns down and we lose our keys, I’ve kept another yubikey in a safety deposit box. So without thinking, I put the key to the safety deposit box on my key ring. Dumb move. What should I do with it?

I saw with interest the Australian Prime Minister's comment that shutting down your phone for 5 mins per night helps mitigate against Cyber Crime. It doesn't. But I will you let you in on something else. Shutting your phone down for 2 hours per night to spend with your family, and have everyone else do the same thing, will pay in dividends for life :)

I know @caseyliss uses the Backblaze client, but I am interested in something more sophisticated and more configurable. Only reason for asking is that whilst I will continue to use Arq (as I love it), if Stefan disappears tomorrow, I don't know of an alternative. @siracusa Feel free to weigh in on this too if you so desire.

I just want to do a shout out on how good Microsoft Defender is as an end point detection and response product. Who would have thought that Microsoft would be a security leader 15 years ago?

I have seen it neutralise (without human intervention) a number of ransomware attacks that would have been devastating to my clients had the payload run. Note that I don't sell Defender - I am a services consultant.

Just 1% of that is $12m. That is a good start, but I certainly wouldn't stop there (naturally take into account being proportionate to size).

I've been watching Three Body (the Chinese version) and it's excellent. One of the best SciFi shows I've seen, with incredibly far reaching credible ideas that are based on logic and science.

It's been written by a Chinese author (originally a trilogy of books) and this is one of the best and perhaps most frightening concept I've seen in SciFi. Definitely worth a look. It's on youtube for free if you are OK with lower resolution. Look for other places for higher resolution.

I've been contemplating whether or not #infosec is getting tougher and worse to fight against. I am not so sure that is the case. Instead, I think the visibility of it has increased, giving the appearance it's getting worse.

In fact, turning that around, we are probably in a better place now than before as main stream media and companies start to take Information Security far more seriously, so perhaps its the appearance its getting worse due to visibility which is actually good.
