Had a great time at AWS ComSum in Mcr yesterday. Really insightful talks throughout.

I often find it’s not just the talks themselves that provide great content, it’s also the valuable related books / resources speakers mention (that have often slipped under my radar...)

Books I'll be adding to my collection in the near future:

Serverless Development on AWS (Sheen Brisals & Luke Hedger)

What’s the deal with Route53 still not supporting registrations or transfers in for .dev or .app tlds? Tld owner (Google?) restrictions?

After the squarespace acquisition of Google domains I was hoping to consolidate everything on R53, looks like it’ll have to be Cloudflare instead?

Have been working on a new web app using @enhance_dev the past week, that has a firm requirement for using DynamoDB streams.

Sadly they're not supported locally by Arc as the Dynalite package doesn't support streams (or transactions)

Rather than switch to an AWS provisioned DynamoDB table, I wanted to maintain the benefits of working locally.

So I've enjoyed creating a new plugin for @arcserverless which facilitates just that.

I don’t think there’s any Web API I could tap into either?

As I say in the article, I really wish I could do something like:

Clear-Site-Data: 'cache' '2022-12-01:2022-12-18'

Meaning I could return this header on all resources without comprising the cache outside of a particular date range.

I’m no browser internals expert but I’m sure @jaffathecake or @slightlyoff could explain why that’d be impossible and therefore not in the spec?

Have read up on Clear-Site-Data: “cache” over on MDN developer.mozilla.org/en-US/do

Which looks helpful but of course isn’t supported by all browsers (Go on, guess which one)

Hello 👋 I'm Martin (he/him) - a web developer and AWS consultant.

I'm VERY glad to be here, thanks for having me (still finding my feet on mind) .

I live in Manchester, UK. I'm a father of two amazing children, and married to the wonderful Helen (not yet on mastodon)

I'm interested in all things and development, , serverless, , , to name but a few.

Hi fedifriends I’m looking for some web dev advice - What’s the best non-Google website analytics service?

I’m not fussed about tracking complex events or interactions. And I don’t need to track conversions or anything like that.

Just accurate pageviews, real-time a bonus.

The website is a static S3 site with CloudFront CDN

Could be a service (free or cheap) or OSS project I host myself?

Thx
