Had fun making this. It's not exactly finished but probably as finished as it's going to be. Trows are like goblins in Orcadian folklore, except they are supposedly yellow with green teeth. These ones are the Rocket Brigade Night Coastal Watch rescue service (for a forthcoming article by @fionaorkneynews ).

Wish I had the time and the space to paint one 12 feet high...

Interesting point made later on that similar attempts by Catalonia to gain international support were apparently torpedoed by the leaders of Catalan political parties... I know little about that but it sounds very much like the sort of subterfuge we should be alert to in Scotland.

Went to the funeral of my art teacher Connie Hogarth today, who was a friend and mentor and embodied all the best things about Orkney for me. Apparently the church bell broke on her wedding day so they finished ringing it when she was put in the ground. Very sad but a beautiful sendoff to a special person.

The people responsible for making this stuff should hang their heads in shame. It's utterly needless. A lot seems to emanate from #BBC licensed properties as well - Numberblocks is just as bad.

Phoned the shop and they said they're not allowed to ship a camera battery without a camera, so they put a broken old film SLR in the box to prevent Royal Mail impounding it.

Many places will just not ship to the Northern isles so I applaud the service and the creative thinking, but... really?!
