Highlight of my week so far, a great data viz workshop by

at Nottingham City Arts. Had fun trying to improve my creative design skills even if I was surrounded by far more artistically talented people (I won’t show my efforts)
Here's where I've shared some of my thoughts on AI and customer analytics via my friend Paul Laughins blogs. Hope you enjoy https://www.customerinsightleader.com/others/video-may-have-killed-the-radio-star-but-ai-wont-kill-good-analysts/

Hope you enjoy...Just to prove I don't just post bad charts when they are produced by the right wing/Brexit types, this is one of the worst I've seen for a while. Not sure they are deliberately trying to mislead or if it's just bad

A brilliant project and so glad it looks to be bearing fruit.
Very proud to have played a part in getting this off the ground when I was working for them. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-64411459
I read lots of the regularly recommended data vis books but learnt something new today reading an economics text, the excellent Doughnut economics by Kate Raworth.
Kate talks about the role of visualisation in economics and quotes Lynell Burmark explaining that words go into short term memory, where we can only hold c.7 bits of info but images take the fast track straight to long term memory.
I suspect it must be true as I must have read that somewhere before but it hadn't stuck until today!

I'm a sucker for vintage data visualisations, the "before we had computers" stuff. Booth, Snow, Nightingale etc
I can't find any details anywhere of who W O'Keefe was or whether he/she did any other similar work but I think they may be a bit of a unsung hero in terms of data vis
For a cricket fan this is a great visualisation of Sir Don Bradmans treble century for Australia vs England in the Headingley test of 1930.
