As much as I try not to be swayed by branding, what am I meant to do when it's a bear in dungarees and a slogan as blatant as this?

4.3.2025 12:54He snooz while I practiceI'm liking the look of Core Element, a new furry event in England in August, I may even put together a little demo and apply for a performing slot, but with it being a camping event the travel down from Scotland would take some thought. I'd probably drive, but filling the car some more and splitting fuel costs would be nice.
Is anyone I know going/interested, just to sway me one way or the other?

I'm noticing that the latest Telegram features announcement is pushing an interview with Tucker Carlson and (telegram founder) Durov, sticking some Pepes in for added dogwhistle, and that's after using the numbers 1488 in a previous one. And Durov himself is one of those dubious tech billionaires with crackpot theories about his obligation to save western civilisation by having genius babies, all very eugenics-lite.
Given that it's so firmly embedded as the default platform for furry groups and DM communication, I'm wondering what it would take for furries to start ditching it the way we (mostly) did with twitter.
The coughing continues, I reckon I can't reasonably think about doing a day of Scotiacon. Going round a busy enclosed space having coughing fits seems like not the wisest choice, and I'm run down from poor sleep all week.

Friday has the musicians get-together panel and the open mic, Saturday is the bustliest day overall, and Sunday has the DJ sets - which to choose?

There's a local meet organiser who keeps referring to himself and other meet organisers as Community Leaders, capital letters and all. Is it just me that bristles a bit at that? Like, Kid, I am not here to be led.

Pondering on the situation with Furcation, it seems like one of the venue's red lines was that illegal drugs were used. But that got me wondering, is zero drug use at an event of this type even feasible?
I don't pretend to be an expert, but at a swift glance at England & Wales drug use statistics, it seems vanishingly unlikely that a group of over 1000 mostly younger adults, over a party weekend would ever have zero drug use. So if that was an expectation of the venue, it was always set to fail. Drugs are a fact of life, and any large events venue would know this.
It's a good thing he can't read (yet)
14.11.2024 11:39It's a good thing he can't read (yet)I'm thinking about trying to do a little recording project to get some of my songs and tunes down within the limited space and resources I have right now. Most of the pieces are based on either acoustic guitar or cittern, voice on some of them, upright bass on some, a bit of mandolin and chromatic harmonica for melody lines, limited percussion (no kit or programmed elements). I want to make it a simple but vibey recording, like a 60s-early 70s UK psych-folk singer songwriter feel.
I'm wondering if any music pals have insights to share on approaching this with little production experience - approaches to tracking, click/no click, mixing etc...
Wee man's back him from an emergency vet appointment, because he couldn't swallow at all this morning. It's a swollen salivary gland, they couldn't see anything stuck in there, so he's had anti-inflammatory injections and started on an antibiotic. He's doing a bit better already, came home and wolfed down some wet food, which he couldn't do this morning.
