I should gather some interesting things in applied mathematics that doesn't use any of the current "trendy" things. Too often we forget about basic geometry, calculus tricks, combinatorics, and other "undergraduate" level mathematics. I enjoy insightful mathematics that arises from the use of simple tools, much like a good woodworker doesn't need heavy machinery to make a beautiful table.
