Although, given the choice, I think I'd rather do the weird WASM thing than Java.

Content warning:Probably a bad idea, but I'll write it down anyway

Make a Linux distribution that runs a Linux kernel, has a WebAssembly virtual machine that wraps all system calls, and all user space code from there is WebAssembly.

The advantages of this system are that it achieves the promise of "write once, run everywhere." It probably meshes with lots of cloud offerings too.

My gut tells me that this is a thing that could be made as a curiosity, be sold to managers, get hailed as a major innovation, then make developer's lives measurably worse for the following decade.

It would essentially be like the JVM but with the option to use low level languages too.

If there is intelligent, space faring life in the universe, I wonder if they went on a detour from the Space Age to the Computer Age too. It just seems like a step backwards in a lot of ways.

Cyberspace is cool, but we're inescapably material creatures and cyberspace is inevitably reliant upon the material world, but the material world can exist without cyberspace.

Debian Trixie on the Beaglebone Black was released just a few days ago, so none of this should be really surprising. It's an older and less common piece of hardware too. Still, maybe I can figure it out and make a PR and feature request if I have it working reliably.

I think that Klipper's install script for the Beaglebone Black could use some work. If 3.5 GB of additional disk space is going to be used on a single board computer that has 1 GB of storage from the outset, things obviously aren't going to work.

So, digging into the scripts ... I don't need that many of these dependencies. I'm not going to build the microcontroller firmware on the Beaglebone, that would be silly.

I feel like there should be a "run-only" install script for SBCs and a "build and run" install script for hosts with more resources. After removing build and flash tools: it only needs 7 MB of dependencies.

But, now klippy apparently defaults to python2? The gcc-pru package also moved around, so I guess I'll dig into further changes.

The folks at Beaglebone deserve at least a bit of a nod. I don't know of that many electronics companies that will still support a piece of hardware after twelve years and yet I just got Debian Trixie on my Beaglebone Black that I'll be using to drive Klipper because for some reason my Raspberry Pi 3 always crashes after two hours of printing.

With the recent move to block side-loading, De-Googled Android is still a considerable jump for most folks, but that at least circumvents that one policy. I remember install-fests being a thing for Linux Users Groups.

Does anyone on the Fediverse have experience with "De-Google"-fests? It's the kind of event I would want for myself to be able to go to because I don't have the confidence/knowledge/free time to get through all the hoops to reliably load a different Android version on my daily driver phone.

Brewing , 600 mL water, 41.5g coffee grounds, temperature starts at 193 F ends at 185 F, brewing for 4 minutes with the top of the french press on.

I think the top of the french press may have acted as a heat sink accidentally. I'm not sure, it's not the best thermometer in any case.

Taste test seems to confirm that covering the coffee while brewing is the right move to make it less acidic.

I seem to have a decent sense of where I want my baseline to be now. I think I'll see if it scales down to work with my smaller French press too.

Content warning:Wall of text

Given the knowledge that the Kossel frame is possibly overbuilt at the bottom in its use of aluminum extrusion, and the part that should run into issues with deflection is the center of the vertical frame, it seems like I could see more benefit moving the aluminum extrusion for the bottom frame up to the highest point the bottom of the extruder can reach since that should limit deflection and it's impossible to print higher than that anyhow.

Content warning:Wall of text

With that considered, there's something about Kossel printers in particular that seemed to make the corners break after long enough even when printed in tough materials, like ABS so the recommendation seems to be to buy aluminum corners. There's definitely significant concentrated cyclic stress in those corners if they're not designed carefully. I have to wonder whether it's a flaw in the corners of just the Kossel's corners.
