Latest in my series of games I never finished back in the day, but am endeavouring to do so now is Second Sight on the PS2. An underrated gem by Free Radical Design (famous for the TimeSplitters series). It’s a dual timeline mix of stealth and third-person shooter with myriad psychic abilities like telekinesis and projection.

I previously got stuck on the penultimate level when being attacked by four psionic bad guys with double health bars…managed it first time 20 years later.

Still some frustrating parts and I miss modern stealth indicators like cones of vision etc (one level took me 2 hours), but the story is brilliant and despite looking pretty old the art still has its charm.

Switched playing #MarvelRivals from PS5 to PC a couple of weeks ago as it gave me a chance to play with some new people as my console...

Switched playing #MarvelRivals from PS5 to PC a couple of weeks ago as it gave me a chance to play with some new people as my console friends have dropped it now. As there’s currently no cross-progression I had to make a new account and grind quickplay until I was level 10 before I could even play competitive.

Even so I managed to get back up to gold today!

Obviously I’ll get a Switch 2 and I’m excited in general for new games, but it’s tinged with some disappointment at how conservative...

Obviously I’ll get a Switch 2 and I’m excited in general for new games, but it’s tinged with some disappointment at how conservative they’ve been with the design. Doesn’t seem like much of the innovative Nintendo magic there.

The mouse functionality is interesting but I’ll reserve judgement until I’ve tried it and see how quickly I get RSI from it.

I don’t suppose there’s any 25+yo #MarvelRivals players out there interested in tournament and ranked play? I’m quite chill and relaxed but like to do well and win, and solo queuing as a support main is getting a bit frustrating now as I’ve hit my ceiling in Gold. I’m happy to create a faction if there’s enough interest or join someone else’s.

I currently play on #PS5 but would be open to moving to #PC for the right group. I can play most European evenings and weekends, but can also sometimes play during the day so Asian evenings would also be ok.

I just see a lot of streamers having fun playing with their friends and none of mine are really interested in hero shooters. And I daren’t join any rando groups because, well, y’know, gamers in general.

If there’s anywhere where I can find a cool but focused group to play with, it’s probably here! Boosts appreciated.

Remember Hard Drivin’? Not only one of the first 3d driving games, but also one of the first to have things like tyres and engine modelled as well as a FFB wheel, 3 pedals and an ignition key in the arcade cab! I was obsessed with it as a child and played it in the arcade a few times, and later got the Amiga version, which wasn’t quite as good but still impressive considering.

The only problem was that I was terrible at the game — I never managed to drive a lap fast enough to take on the Phantom Photon in the championship lap. That is, until yesterday!

Still took quite a few goes to beat the ghost once qualified, and you have to do it in one go, but I managed it eventually. The Mega Drive/Genesis version is actually pretty decent.

This might be a new record for the longest time between first playing a game and finishing it!
